1. Make sure to buy an extra gb of RAM
After having the computer for a week, I was about to toss it out the window it ran so slowly. I know this model isn't the same one you'll find on most review sites, since they removed a lot of the available "upgrades" to get the price down to $399, but they really shouldn't have skimped on the 2nd gb of RAM. I highly recommend this little guy, but only if you spend the additional $25 (that's how much I spent at Crucial.com) for 1gb of ram. I've never installed hardware on a laptop before, so I was a bit concerned about any traps the manufacturer may have laid, but it was super easy to remove the plate and snap in the gb!

Nice laptopt/netbook
Nice little netbook style laptop. Too slow without additional memory which I pumped up to 4 gig and needs bigger hard drive. Functions well though runs kinda warm as do most laptops so nothing unusual. I bought it mainly to have something to take on the road and this will meet my purposes. I like the small lightweight size. Who needs an IPAD.

I purchased this laptop about a month ago. Very fast and quiet operation. The screen is vibrant & very clear. Great price for this system.It acts and feels like a $900 piece.Acer does an awesome job,LOVE their products.I plugged my nastolgic Juster 660 HIFI 3-d speakers and viola,great instant surround.The 1 stereo speaker is small yet audible&stereo.I do wish it had 2,however,just for convenience.DVD multi is great as is the webcam and it's options.Deleting some chub programs made it even quicker. I would recommend this to anyone-again top of the line for the money.

2. Good laptop bad sound
I bought this laptop for my wife 3 weeks ago. In that time we have had a chance to try it out. I agree with most of the other reviews as far as most of the features of this unit. The only problem we have is in the speaker. It comes with only one speaker which you cannot hear. I called Acer service and was told by someone in India, that there is no cure for the problem. He said because there is only one speaker, there is low volume. It is a shame because the rest of the unit works so well. If you use headphones the sound is excellent,but if you use the external speaker be prepared to put your ear next to it to hear.

1. Just bought
I have just bought this notebook. It seems to work ok, I would definitely go ahead and purchase an 8GB RAM upgrade as it seems to bog down easily. An 8GB upgrade is only around $50. The speakers aren't the best but they will do. This is a cheap notebook and you do get what you pay for but it is definitely good for someone like me on a small budget. The main reason I wanted to make this review is to say that I purchased it from Best Buy for $279.99, right at $300 with tax. So definitely shop around for price. They didn't have it on display at the time either but I checked their website and said it was in stock at that store so I went in and asked for it and they had 11 of them. So even if they don't have it on display check the site or just ask (give them the SKU number).

2. Good bang for the buck
I bought 4 of these at Best Buy for $279 just around $300 with taxes for our office training room. I have not upgraded the RAM but will likely do so to 4GB as that is enough for what we are using these pc's for. I would give it 4.5 stars if there was an option but gave it 5 instead. To be honest this thing at 4gb would do 99% of what the average mom and pop or home user would use it for.

I have stripped off the Norton and Best buy applications that were preinstalled and it runs reasonably fast for the processor. I watched a 720p streaming movie via Veetle.com on it with no problems just to test out the video and streaming capabilities.

Windows office 2007 runs fine on the machine and I have also installed Open office with little or no slowing down. I have opened several applications at the same time while streaming music on sky.fm and had no performance issues with the pc.

For $300 with tax this is a solid buy for anyone on a budget who wants a...

I bought this computer Gateway NV57H50U Laptop / Intel Celeron B800/ 15.6" Display / 2GB Memory - Black about 3 days ago and I love it!!! It's waaaaaay better than the old Dell (2007) that I already had. This laptop is pretty entry level but it has ALL the bells & whistles necessary for today's modern society. BTW, I only paid $279 at Best buy. The speed is excellent in comparison to my 60GB Hard drive Dell, but I will be upgrading the RAM to 8GB as well as another customer said. Mine isn't "laggy" as they put it, but hey, why not! It has a dedicated number pad (which I totally love) and it also has an HDMI port which is perfect when u download a movie and you don't want to wait for it to burn! Hope this review helps someone.

1. Wonderful Laptop
This is a great little laptop. It's very lightweight, doesn't get hot (it's been on for about 6 hours straight now), and the display is gorgeous. The widescreen display is great for watching movies and definitely gives the laptop a more "modern" feel. The speakers are OK..they can get pretty loud, but the sound quality isn't the best (rare for Sony!) -- but it is a laptop, after all. The chiclet keyboard is different than what I have had in the past, but it is very easy to get used to and makes for quick and error-free typing. The laptop comes with Microsoft Office starter which includes limited functionality Microsoft Word and Excel..no, it doesn't have all the features of the full version, but it's nothing the average user will miss.

Windows 7 is infinitely better than Vista; you can disable a lot of those annoying things Vista didn't allow you to do (such as asking for your password each time upon start-up). When I just got my laptop, I had 261 gigs free of 287;...

1. Perfect for school or work.
This is a great laptop for home or school use. I was initially worried that it would not be very good because it's not one of those high dollar laptops, but I was pleasantly surprised. It boots up fast and runs all my office programs easily. Windows 7 Home Premium is perfect for basic computing. The wireless connection has awesome range and the graphics is phenomenal. I even had it connected to my flat screen using the HDMI port and it plays DVDs like theater quality HD. I have had it for about 6 months now and it has been running near perfectly since I bought it. The only problem I've had was about three weeks ago it started to slow down on me to a crawl. I suspected that I had a virus, but the scan came up clean. I went online to the Dell website and started a live chat with them using my desktop. They were very helpful. Turns out, I just needed to update some drivers. I gave them my service tag and they walked me right through the whole process. Very happy with this purchase.

I've owned several laptops and would be considered an intermediate to advanced computer user. I've built my own desktops, tweaked a few laptops and owned various brands of laptops including HP, Fujitsu, Sony and Dell (Inspiron, Latitude and XPS series).

I purchased this exact laptop directly from Dell (got a better deal than current Amazon pricing) based upon Consumer Report's November 2009 article recommendations where the Dell Inspiron 1545 was rated a 'Best Buy' for every day computing. I purchased it for my husband who will use it primarily for watching an occasional movie from Netflix streaming wirelessly on our home network, emailing to share jokes and videos with his friends, and browsing the Internet.

After setting it up, which other than running into a snag with my home network was a breeze, and playing with it for about an hour, these are my impressions.

2. Good "Everyday" Laptop - Recommended!
We bought the Dell Inspiron 15 (1545) to replace an aging ACER laptop as an "everyday" laptop for my teen son to use for homework and casual gaming. For the price, the performance, features and display have far exceeded our expectations. While not a gaming or graphics power machine, it has more than enough processor speed, memory, and hard drive space for our needs.

This is a very simple laptop to set up and use. The box only contains the PC (with battery already installed), the power supply, and a packet of software CDs (which I did not use) with minimal documentation. The instructions recommended charging the laptop for 12 hours before using the battery, which was fine as I just left it plugged in while configuring the machine. The initial setup took about 20 minutes, and was very straight forward as it found and connected right away to my WEP protected home WiFi network. The Windows 7 configuration was straight forward and no errors were encountered. Dell also recommends...

I agree, Dell is Unethical
I also have had issues with Dell and the Inspiron 1545. Firstly, there is a known issue with the cursor randomly jumping to a different spot while typing. At first I thought it was an issue with MS Word, but then it began happening anywhere I was typing outside of Word such as Gmail or even writting a review for Amazon. Researching the issue online, I found I was not alone with this problem. Trying to get support from Dell was a joke. They give you the run around until you give up. Then, about 3 months after I bought it, the touchpad stopped working. I only paid $649.00 for the machine, so I expected mid-level performance, but needless to say I was disappointed with my first Dell laptop. I own 2 Dell desktops that I have had no issues with. However, I will not be buying another Dell laptop.

Got this as a desktop backup mainly. Some have said sound is too low, you can fix this for the most part by going into HD audio settings and sliding the EQ bars up, all of em, 10 or so. This helps greatly, but keep in mind these are still just laptop speakers with limited sound range. Battery life is medium at best, but at just under 4 hours that's plenty for me for my uses. However for some this won't be enough, but to counter these points keep in mind the reasons for the high power use... this thing is fast! It has been able to play every game I've put on it so far. The only reason I didn't give it a perfect rating is, firstly, the screen contrast ratio is not fantastic. It's very crisp and clear but has slightly washed out colors and black never looks black. Otherwise the screen is nice and the refresh rate is fast. I have seen no ghosting or motion blur. DVD playback is good. The secondary issue, there is a very tiny bit of hard drive vibration detectable (not cooling fan or DVD...

I have had plenty of computer brands to know what I was looking for this time. I have had Dell, HP, Gateway, Acer, and Mac. I knew i did not want a Dell, HP, or Acer. When getting my husbands computer fixed I asked the repair guy what brand should i look into to get the most bang for my buck. He told me Toshiba. I had bused my moms Toshiba and I loved it so I looked around for the right Toshiba for me. This computer is exactly what I was looking for. I am so glad I got this one too! It is fast and easy to navigate around.

The look of the computer is great as well! I love that the number pad is separate, most laptops do not have that. The screen is a perfect size and the outside is very sleek. I havent had to take it anywhere yet, but I can imagine that it wont be too much of a hassel because it is not heavy at all. It is pretty sturdy feeling.

2. You can do better...and worse.
My 4 year old Toshiba laptop was getting a bit long in the tooth so I decided to get an updated one. Due to budget restraints, I couldn't get the P-series Toshiba with the upgraded graphics, so I settled on the L-series. I've had this laptop for a month and found a few interesting points that might help some of you out there.

1. This laptop is not heavy at all. The weight is really well proportioned.
2. Intel integrated HD graphics are a joke. Don't expect to play any games at any decent quality resolutions or settings.
3. The Realtek wifi adapter is about the lowest quality you can find. It would disconnect all the time, never connect at anywhere above 72mbps. If you get this laptop, spend the extra $25 on an Intel Centrino 6200 mini pci card.
4. Ram is cheap. Immediately upgrade this to 8gb of ram. As of this writing, you can pick up 8Gb for $35.
5. The touchpad multi-touch is really annoying. How annoying? I've magnified/de-magnified my screen at...

my board is out for RMA which I would buy another even if it was unfixable (ASUS P6x58d extreme edition). In the mean time I have this little laptop doing all my work. Everything from CPU to memory is discrete (upgradable). It's currently hooked-up with an HDMI connection to a Samsung T240 monitor and also my desktop keyboard, mouse, headset, gamepad and a printer. I still have unused USB ports. My X832B-X2 even came with Windows 7 and was refurbished by the good people at Asus. Gods honest truth I even bought one for my son who plays games on his. Before spending big bucks on a new over priced laptop check this one out.

2. This is a great latop
This is my second Asus X83V22, the kids took the first one bought. This laptop is great because it is super easy to upgrade which is NOT very typical of laptops. I bought a Q9100 cpu which is a quad core CPU and had it changed out in 10 minutes. The video card is also swappable! I also like the laptop because it is power packed full of ports and features with 3 usb ports, firewire, pcmcia card, flash card reader etc.. downside to this laptop is that it comes with Vista. I downgraded to XP..not an easy task on this laptop, but doable.( dont blame Asus for this, but M$ for pushing their quirky OS on manufacturers ) The laptop, on occassion, has some glitchiness with bluetooth and usb ports..I think this is a hardware design issue, as I have said, i have 2 of these laptops one with Windows XP the other with windows 7 and they both have issues. Rebooting always fixes the problem.

1. Totally Love it!
I purchased this laptop a few years ago and it was absoulutely awesome! It was listed with Dell as a gaming computer and it was good for games as well as all of the work related things I needed to do. Just under 5 pounds it was pretty easy to tote around when i was on work related trips. This model is the last XPS that Dell made with a 12.1 screen. The dementions of this laptop is a nice "in-between" size: it is a bit bigger than a netbook but also a bit smaller than a laptop with a 13" screen.

This baby has 4 USB ports and that is a bit difficult to find these days. You never think you are going to need all those USB ports until it happens! The hard drive is upgradable to a 500GB if you want to go that high (I upgraded mine to a 320GB and it worked fine. Everyone that saw it loved it! I even had offers to purchase it but I always refused!

Also, not only is it nearly impossible to find a laptop with this size screen, number of USB ports but to have all of...

Actually, I rarely type reviews, but I have to do so in this case. Due to the rather few number of reviews online (and many of them negative), I just wanted to clear things up so buyers like me can decide whether or not to buy it. BUILD QUALITY AND DESIGN: Excellent, excellent, excellent. The design is very sleek and looks fantastic - I think that it is the best designed notebook with a keypad. I looked at other color choices, but the matte silver lid (which doesn't really get fingerprints) and the white interiors are really pleasing to the eye. Build quality is also excellent; the notebook feels as sturdy as a lenovo or a mac. As an owner of several brands of laptops, I can say that this is definitely one of the best built laptops.

2. decent laptop
I purchased this laptop about two years ago. The design is sleek and modern. I love the white color, and the inclusion of the camera (skype, here I come). The quality is excellent and the set up was easy. It loads up quickly and wifi works well. I thought the battery-life was durable enough, even though I admit, I don't spend too much time on it. CPU memory is enough for basic home use, however if your goal is to stream a lot of media I would suggest purchasing a higher model with more memory space. This one's more for your bacic internet use.

Crappy laptop!
I purchased this laptop online from Best Buy on Black Friday for $500 thinking it was a good deal. I agreed with the other reviewer that this should have been price $300-$350. The battery life only last about 3hrs or less, and the speaker volume is HORRIBLE!!! The on/off button is easily pressed and shouldn't be there. Besides that everything else is just ok.

Excellent deal
This looks like an Acer Aspire AS5734Z-4512 NoteBook except it comes with a single core processor (Acer owns Gateway and eMachines).
I am expecting accessories to be well supported and compatible between both brands.
At $279, this laptop is an excellent deal. Ordered on Wednesday, delivered before noon on Thursday.
The laptop is lightweight (lighter than my 13" Apple MacBook) and responsive (DVDs play seamlessly).
It just takes a couple of minutes to configure it. I was able to connect my WPA2 Wireless N network with no issue.
The power adapter accepts up to 240V and the power cord is detachable - this should be usable in Europe.
A webcam would have been a nice addition.

Pros:

1. Love it, but aint perfect...
In general, I love it but nothing's perfect. Before this I had the HP T2z which is the predecessor of the TM2 series. I've had it for a couple weeks now and thought I'd share my opinion.

Pros:
- FN keys are first laptop functions then F keys: I love this feature. I very rarely use function keys but I do use the volume / brightness / WLAN keys a lot. This new keyboard layout makes the function keys laptop functions by default. You have to hit the FN key to use F11, for example. But the wireless on/off is a touch away.
- Screen flips both ways: the T2z could only rotate one way. This goes both.
- Long lasting battery: with the wireless off and the screen half bright I've gotten 6+ hours out of the battery.
- Light: nice to have the weight down. Who wants to carry extra pounds?

Cons:
- No home, end, pg dn, pg up keys: The new keyboard has it's downside... I use the home end keys a lot, or used to at least. Since we're talking about the...

2. HP TouchSmart tm2-2150
I bought this TouchSmart tm2-2150us to replace my old Sony Vaio.

Pros:
- 500GB storage
- 4GB memory, 2GB each slot (expandable to 8GB)
- Intel i3 1.33 GHz (Works fine for image editing)
- Convertible screen (iPad killer)
- Sensitive Touch Screen
- Pen digitizer
- Unique design
- Nice speaker output

Cons:
- a bit heavy (~4.1 lbs)
- reflective display (need to set maximum brightness if you use it outdoor)
- no optical drive

So far, this laptop meet my expectation as a portable and tablet PC. The 12.1 screen size is perfect for traveling (not too big or small) also the battery can stay about 3 - 4 hours using wifi and 4 - 5 hours using cable LAN.

I've had my HP tm2t (2100) for eight months now and love it. I really vacillated between getting an iPad and the HP. The tm2t beats the Apple hands down. The computer has met our needs, for daily home activities such as e-mail, MS office tasks, I have also used it to process pictures and that has worked well. USB3 connection is really nice. So far the only issue is that the SD card sticks out when it is in the reader and could get damaged if the computer is set down without using much care. However the real test comes with time, how will it hold up?

2. I'm happy with my new Toshiba
The Toshiba computer I ordered through Amazon was as advertised and I received it right on schedule. I would not hesitate to order another Toshiba - as I have owned four computers from another major computer company that have all died within 2 and 3 years of purchase. Hopefully this one will stand up.

I contacted the seller regarding this laptop in advance to make sure it did, in fact, come with a webcam, and when it arrived; everything was as expected. Packaged in OEM Dell boxes I was quite happy.

To greatly improve performance, I'd recommend pulling the 2gb ram out and replacing with 8gb (2x4gb) or 16gb (2x8gb) of ram; it really will make a big difference with the I3 processor...

For the price; can't really beat it for a NEW system.

This laptop does not come with a lot of periferal connectivity (but its a laptop), you can't expand the ram (but it already has 4 Gigs) and only has a so-so graphics card (like all packaged HPs) but who cares? I couldn't be happier. Lots of bang for the buck and 64 bit OS, yes sir.

1. Great Purchase
This is a very great laptop for the tasks I put it up to. I use this mostly for word processing and web browsing and am extremely satisfied with this purchase. The processor is great and with 4GB of RAM, this computer is fast. However, be sure to use your own antivirus software and to uninstall the McAfee security software, which slows down the computer immensely. The camera isn't the best but is more than adequate for video conferencing. The addition of the keypad on the right hand side is immensely helpful, especially in Excel spreadsheets. The widescreen is a wonderful addition, and the speakers work well and I am surprised how great of a sound quality they emit. My only gripe is that the touchpad is fairly close to the keyboard, so it is easy to brush it and click out of the text box while typing. In general, this is an amazing laptop and I would highly recommend it for anyone.

2. GOOD FOR THE PRICE
Laptop has a good feel to it. Processor seems to work well. The most important thing about computers and laptops today when purchasing is to have a minimum of 4 GB or RAM. This laptop has the 4 GB DDR3 RAM that I require as a minimum. Works like a champ. Great Price for anyone looking to do word processing, surf the web, email, facebook, etc. Not a gaming computer, but worth buying for "normal" use.

I am not a computer saavy person when it gomes to the features for computers, but right off the bat after I read the specifications, I was pleased! The seller shipped it really fast and they were very responsive. When I opened the box it looked like a brand new computer with no cosmetic damages. 2. Slick machine, great service and value
I had to have the keyboard replaced on my computer (my fault, not the machine's), and HP customer service not only did it fast, but also replaced other components with better ones while they were at it and gave me an extra battery.

Other than that, I couldn't be happier with this computer and I've had it since February or so. The aluminum body is slick and it runs very cool. It's very light for its size and has great battery life (8 hours on mine). I use it to play some games, too, and it does fine with most popular game titles. For the price, you can't beat it!

the used i book we purchased was a great bargain. we are VERY satisfied with our purchase.

The laptop is not half bad. It's the first mac I've ever used, so it took a couple of days to get the hang out it. It's relatively easy to use and I can see why mac user prefer it over Windows. It does get a little hot though. The memory is small so flash videos don't play smoothly, but I hear you can upgrade the memory somehow.

The original netbook!
I've had a 12" iBook G4 since 2005 and it's still my favorite notebook for browsing the internet, writing letters, and even reading pdf's. It's very lightweight and I consider the screen the perfect size. It's held up very well. One of the keys has a hairline crack and one of the rubber feet on the bottom fell off but I clean it every month or so and it still looks almost new.

My only criticism is that it gets a little warm so I keep it on top of a clipboard when holding it in my lap. No viruses, no crashes, no worries.

When netbooks started becoming popular a couple of years ago, I had to laugh because I already have a lightweight, handy netbook. In fact, I'm using it right now to write this review. Given a choice between a new Asus or Dell netbook or a used iBook G4 for the same price, I would take the G4 without thinking about it for a second.

I was pleasantly surprised when I got the computer considering the price I paid. This is my first laptop so I'm not the best person to review it since I have no prior experience. But this does everything I need it to do. The features are excellent. One button on/off mousepad, HDMII out, dual core processor, wireless N, dvd multidrive, nice 720 display so my shows look fantastic if I watch them on the laptop instead of with HDMI on my flatscreen. 1. Great Gaming Laptop for the Price
This is the perfect laptop for anyone looking for a gaming laptop for under $1000. All the games I've tried on it have run perfectly, the most difficult probably being Skyrim, which ran perfectly on ultra settings. The laptop is very aesthetically appealing in my opinion (although some reviews for Acer Aspire V3 computer's said it was not attractive, I completely disagree). The main upside is gaming, but it also has a great keyboard which is very important to me as a college student, the screen is great, which is awesome for me because of netflix. The biggest issue I have with the design of the laptop is with the location of the track pad, and the buttons on the track pad. I was just playing Battlefield Bad Company 2 (which works perfectly), and my left hand would occasionally tap the track pad, causing my gun to fire at random. 2. Amazing Laptop!
I've just recently bought this laptop and it exceeds expectations! I bought this computer for playing games and watching movies on netflix. This computer can not only play games on high/ultra graphics but also has a great display. Watching movies on it is great. The problem I have with this laptop is the short battery life. I get around 3 hours when gaming on high settings but I usually keep it plugged in so not a big problem. Another con with it is the placement of the track pad. I end up occasionally tapping the track pad when playing games causing something I don't want to happen. To fix this I bought a USB mouse. This laptop has been great for what I need it for and hopefully you'll love it two.

awesome laptop and a cheap starter gaming laptop
the laptop is good and all just that there are 2 different graphic cards in it, you can't really tell the diffrence between the HD 4001 and the 730M inside... but if you are playing a game that needs the card like some steam games [Merto 2033] the 730m will give you a better picture and smoother loadings per frame. The laptop gets hot after an hour of playing so not recommended over 2 hour 30 min of playing for regular use the laptop does not get to hot unless left on to long the bat life is about 3 hours on low settings in real world if just typing a paper or using the web. use if playing games on bat its about 1.5 hours if watching a videos on dvd it lasts about 2 hours.

overall its a good laptop and it looks like its priced correctly the heat would come from underneath and from where you rest your wrist its quiet and fast.

Reason for the 4 starts is cuz the screen resolution looks like its 720P instead of 1080. games run at 60 FPS most of the times the worst...

1. Great Price Great Product
I bought this laptop for my wife's Christmas present on the day after Black Friday from Fry's online. The price was $299.00 and the laptop is built solidly. It seems plenty quick to me and when I offered to upgrade to 8GB ram from the 3GB it came with, my wife said not to bother (even though it is less than $30.00 for the ram.) We have not noticed any delay in using the mouse cursor as reported in another review here. We are extremely happy with this laptop although it is still very new and hasn't stood the test of time yet.

This laptop can support 16gb ram. I got it from frys and upgrade 8gb few month ago and now upgrade to 16gb. It is not easy at first to upgrade memory because you have to open a lot of screw. Pay attention to the audio jack. When open, push the cover down a little at audio jack. when close, make sure audio jack in first and push up a little at audio jack.

Review for HP Envy Laptop
This is my first Vine review for a higher end technology product. This machine is $749.00 so I will give it the best review I can. When I compare it to my current laptop, I'll be comparing it to a Dell Inspiron N7010 (google it if you're interested). My Dell has its issues but has served me well since December, 2010. I bought it from a shopping channel for about $949.00. It came with a lot of extra software and is a 17.3" widescreen. I currently use Windows 8, consumer edition. One nice thing was the free addition of Office 2010, Student/Teacher edition. Not the testing/preview, the FULL edition. I still scratch my head as to WHY manufacturers put the trial (another name for it) edition of Office on computers. Just charge a little more and put at least the Student/Teacher edition. That's another debate for another time.

I bought my Sony Vaio UX380N back in the beginning of 2008, and I haven't regretted it one bit. Even now, after having it and using it all this time, i still keep finding newer and more exciting ways to use my UX380N. Sony had a real winner on their hands with this model, but they were quite outrageous on the prices of them. If they would have lowered their prices to a more reasonable amount, and maybe have upgraded the RAM to 2Gb instead of just giving up on the UX model idea, they would and could have probably sold them like hot cakes. Everyone that I have talked to and showed my UX380N to really loved it, and they really were interested in purchasing one. But the Sony price of them, along with Sony's decision to discontinue the model rather than make a few upgrades to it and lower the price of it, drove them away from buying one. Sony could have made a killing profit with this model, but their poor business and tech practices, once again, put a damper on...

2. Excellent for travel
Bought my UX380N back in 2007, this is an excellent micro-laptop if you travel much. I usually bring two laptops when I travel - a bigger 13" or 16" laptop to do serious work and this guy is my entertainment laptop to play video, light games and serve as my BACKUP laptop just in case anything happens to my main machine. In this regard it is perfect - I could fit both laptops on my back pack and barely know the UX is there.

To fully appreciate this laptop, you MUST upgrade it to Windows 7 - Vista Business is WAY too SLOW. Once you put Windows 7 it is a totally different machine - snappy, performs well and is a joy to use. The 1G RAM is sufficient for Windows 7 but not Vista Business. Oh, I did a clean install as well for Windows 7 and loaded all Sony drivers, everything works perfectly, actually much better than under Vista.

The screen is small indeed, the keyboard tiny, but what do you expect - it is a micro-laptop, it is supposed to be small. The quality of...

Works even faster with XP, too
I've had a UX-380 for 3+ years, and it hasn't been used much the past year because of newer toys. But the first thing I did when I bought it was to rip out Vista and put in XPpro. Machine surprisingly fast, and is a REAL PC running all my desktop/laptop apps.
