I Just Don't Understand!!!
I order a 14" Ibook, and i am stunned! This Ibook may be considered out dated...BUT is really great for every day use! Sure you may need to set up for your first Internet's use... but when every thing is all done and put in it is well worth it! On this computer, windows 8 is annoying at first, If your finger goes on the left side of the mouse pad, windows 8 will automatically popup, it took me a while to figure out why that kept happening, I’m sure that function can be disabled but I just haven't taken the time to figure it out, so I just found a temporary way around it, by staying on the right side of the mouse pad which is larger than most mouse pads. The major thing that I dislike about this computer is....the speaker is on the bottom of the computer, which makes the sound low at times or makes the sound muffled a little. It's not unbearable because it does have a decent volume level unlike some of the other brands I looked at. I had another speaker which also happens to be white so they make a perfect pair. I've had this new machine for 4 days now and can't find anything I dislike about it. It's every bit as fast as I imagined and the display quality is the best I've ever seen on a laptop. The overall build quality looks really good. I originally considered the Alienware M17 but after reading reviews I decided on this one and I'm glad I did.
I've tested the gaming performance by installing Medal of Honor-Warfighter and on high-quality and at 1080p it is as smooth and pretty as my gaming desktop. I was originally thinking that 8gb of memory was a little weak requiring a quick upgrade. I'm happy to say that after using this machine that there's no bottleneck whatsoever that I can see. The keyboard is backlit beautifully and is really easy to see in a dark room. In "gaming mode" I like how the WASD keys light up red. I know is an expensive machine but:
I use it every day and carry it on my bagpack so the weight was a very important issue
It doesn't get hot even while charging and the battery last for almost 6 hours with wifi or 3g (not included) so if you are not going to use it for long you don't have to carry the charger AND even the charger isn't heavy but it does get kind of hot

Bought two for my two sons.
Both are gamers and are very impressed with it's abilities.
Just update the drivers on the video card (which you should do anyway on a new laptop) and it will handle anything you can throw at it. My youngest had a powerful dell desktop he was gaming on before this. He says this Ultrabook leaves his desktop in the dust.
It would be hard to imagine anyone being less than impressed with this machine.

It was fast, and had tons of room. The speakers sounded really loud and clear. Blu-ray player was incredible. It just didn't have bluetooth and that's one feature I wanted in my laptop. Other than that it was a great laptop.

I have not had any issues with my Asus laptop. It hasn't locked up, or powered off, and have had no issues with it jumping screens. I would highly recomend Asus, as far as laptops go. I did a lot of research before going with the Asus K55A-DH51 15.6". The graphics are amazing, and it's great for gaming. It's also well made.

2. Fantastic...Love It!
This laptop has been a breeze, and I've been using it every day, all day, for a solid six months or so. The only issue is that the touch-pad is a bit sensitive, but if I wanted, I could just bypass it altogether as I use a wireless mouse anyway. It does get annoying though as sometimes, the cursor will jump to another part of the page or text. I really have to keep my palms away from the touchpad for this not to happen. But curiously, its sensitivity seems to come and go, so I'm not sure what that's about.

But other than that, I love it. I know some have had issues with Windows 8, but from a user point of view (not a technology bug POV), most of the time I just bypass it and go to the desktop, which is where the old Windows resides. I don't know why someone would bother to uninstall Windows 8 when your old Windows system is built right into it.

Occasionally, I'll poke around Windows 8 for fun, but as others have said, it's not terribly intuitive. But the solution...

I have been disappointed with the construction of my previous three laptops which is why I looked into something sturdier and the Panasonic TOughbook CF-F9 delivered. There is nothing cheap about this product. With so many power settings, the battery lasts so much longer than my previous laptops. I love the built-in handle as it allows me quick exit from the airport security check line without having to store it back in the case. I attend many meetings where the main meeting is broken up into smaller sub-meetings and this is perfect for that environment too. It was about 3x more than what I have paid for in the past, but the quality is justified so far.

2. Poor performance in rainforest
My organization bought a pair of these last year for use in our research site. Our research site is in the rainforest and is solar powered though most electronics suffer from the humidity.

The humidity didn't get to our tough books; the tough books had simple and annoying problems. Keyboards that got stuck (not due to eating around it), both the mouse tracking pads broke, not to mention the batteries needed to be replaced very quickly.

I wouldn't be writing such a negative review if it weren't for both of our tough books having such similar problems. It also doesn't help that various employees have 'netbooks' that have outlasted and out performed our expensive toughbook.

Panasonic CF-F9 the battle ready toughbook
I just recently purchased the CF-F9, and so far I've been nothing but impressed by it. The battery life (at a max of 7 hours) is simply incredible and one of the main reasons for pulling the trigger on it. The magnesium alloy case is definetly one of the best i've seen. In my job we normally work with the Panasonic brand of toughbooks quite a bit, and most often in the field, so I was already aware of how reliable they are. This was actually a risk to buy... as there aren't many reviews about it online. Well hope this helps someone in their decision, I'll definitely be taking this with me for my next combat deployment.

I've had this computer for a couple weeks but having experience with laptops, this one is very well built and is exceptional in every way...mostly anyway.

Not sure what the one star is complaining about because this is backwards compatible and works fine with my router which is not "N". Also, for its size, it is NOT heavy. There are many more that are worse that are not near as good. Battery life also is not bad but not the best. I get four hours of regular use. A little less if using heavy. It does have BT 4.0 which has been fast for me. The 8gb ram and I7 make this smokin' and when SSD's get cheaper, i plan on putting one in! This is not an ultrabook so the one star should go find a machine that is tiny and not serviceable!

I have had my Beats Edition HP for about six months now. For the most part I have been very pleased with it. It's a nice compromise between thinner, newer 'Ultrabook' style computers and the older behemoths that are still around.

Pros:
The backlit keyboard is great and a must since everything is black.

Having a built in optical drive.
Cosmetics - it's unique looking.

Bought the product with the highest expectations because my windows laptop was going to shit. Came within about 3 days and im an artist/producer and i cant say how much i love working with the UI and garageband as well is honestly the shit when you know what you're doing. 2. MacBook Air - Thin with Fewer Drawbacks!
I do have fairly recent Mac desktops, but my own personal Mac notebook had become aged. It was a Powerbook.

With the release of iPad last Spring, I had considered not going back to owning a new notebook, with a desktop and iPad at my disposal.

However, I decided I simply need a keyboard for some on the go work, and my machine was simply too old now.

This October 2010 MacBook Air redesign is the answer for me. Furthermore, my father chose the 11.6-inch model for extreme portability traveling. I do not travel for work, so preferred the higher performance offered by the 13.3-inch model.

I will first address the 11 Versus 13 inch as I have examined both side by side:

*11-inch is shocking to see. Not only thin, but a smaller footprint. Gorgeous computer. You can notice a slight performance hit compared to a recent MacBook Pro.

I bought the Mac Air 256 GB version from Apple for my wife-to-be who does very computer intensive work with image editing of the cellular level pictures she takes for her research. For those truly interested in this machine ignore the rabid frothing that the Mac hatters spout about the Core 2 Duo processor. Computer speed is not solely dependent upon increasing processor speed. The speed slowdown in today's computers is occurring because of memory and simply increasing processor speed does not make up for all of this. Fortunately, Apple has realized this in the design of the Mac Air. If you do a little digging for objective information you will find that Apple did not go with the i-series processors because of size and the inferior graphics that is integrated with the i-series processors. I just got my MacBook Air 11" on the second day it was launched, although I was not aware Amazon carries the same product, I went to Apple Store to purchase mine.

First of all, the 2nd generation Air is as slim as the previous one, and with the addition of new 11" model, it takes the slimness to next level. You will be stunned by just looking at its profile in person.

I've had the computer for a little less than a week, but am very pleased with it. (See below for how to fix the scroll bar problem if you encounter it.)
The display looks great, and it has all the peripherals you could need (including usb 3.0).
It has a separate numerical keypad, which I find great because it's much easier when doing anything involving typing lots of numbers, and even though some complain that having that addition requires the computer to be too big or the other keys too small, that is not the case. At 15.6" it is still a compact enough size and does not weigh much.
The tile keyboard is great (not back lit if that is a concern for you, but the screen provides enough light to see the keys). The sounds is fine, not expecting anything mind blowing from a laptop.
The quad processor is more than capable of handling what you can throw at it, as well is the 8gb of ram installed. It is a computer built to handle heavy gaming, and if you're not into that,...

Very happy with the laptop so far. Not a huge fan of Windows 8, but the build quality and look of the laptop is excellent. Feels solid, a wide variety of inputs/outputs including VGA for those of us who still need it, and HDMI for the future. A solid laptop at a good price. INTRODUCTION
Deciding on which size MacBook Pro one "needs" can be a fun and bewildering process. When I went into an Apple Store, I quite literally found myself envisioning a particular niche need for each of their MacBook Air 11", 13", MacBook Pro 13", 15", and 17" models!

In the end, I decided that the MBP 13" screen was too small for my needs and although the i5 and i7 CPUs in the MBP 13" were significantly faster than the previous generation CPUs, they actually underperformed the previous generation in their graphics intensive applications as the integrated Intel GPU was not as robust as the older generation MBP 13" models.

I deliberately waited a few months to write a review on this so I had time to truly discover what I did and did not like about this laptop.

The Operating System
A big difference to me was made by Windows 8. I'll be honest, I don't much like the OS. It takes me a good few minutes to find certain programs that I could find in seconds on XP or Windows 7. Also the OS seems to have a function that works through the mousepad that minimizes the function or game you are on and snaps back to the desktop - it's pretty annoying when gaming so I use a separate mouse for that. It just seems like the OS missed the mark in anticipating the needs of people using it. My mother has the same laptop and she made the same comment to me just recently, and she's not a gamer! So truly, gamer or not, you may find Windows 8 a bit of a pain, at least until you get used to it. The system also comes with Kaspersky Internet security 2013 which is a great anti-virus/security system.

Pro: A cheaper high end gaming laptop that's comparable to Alienware. It has 3d function making your gaming experience much more in depth. Screen is sharp and will not glare. Keyboard is crisp with a metallic gun finish. Blue-ray player is always a nice addition along with the back lit key for working in the dark. Internal memory and hard drive is easy accessible for upgrade. 1.5 Tb harddrive is massive.

Con: Some bugs with the sound system where the subwoofer doesn't turn off until the lowest decibel. The resting pad is changed into a foamy texture instead of the soft rubber texture from G74x. This version comes with only 12 Gb instead of 16 Gb, but you have an easy access slot for expand. There are 2 hard drives but they are both partitioned giving you 4 smaller hard drives, not sure why they did that. 3D function is great but it turns down the screen resolution when in use and makes your backlit keyboard into a strobe light. Kinda wish they had one of the hard...

2. Satisfied with this laptop!
I've been using this laptop for almost 2 months (Bought in Aug 2012). So far it's been pretty solid. Everything works out of the box - no crashes so far.

I bought this from Amazon. The box included the following:
1. Laptop
2. Laptop Bag
3. 1 pair of Nvidia 3D vision glasses (3D vision emitter is built into the laptop). Glasses comes with a soft material pouch to store it in and keep it from getting dust. You may need a hard case to protect it if you want to travel with it in your bag!
4. Manuals and driver CD
5. Soft cloth to wipe laptop screen. 3D glasses also came with a cloth to keep it clean.
6. Power adaptor - As other people have mentioned - this is pretty big. It also gets hot so be sure to place it in a safe spot where you won't touch it and keep it away from surfaces that might be damaged by heat.

A good mix of power and affordability
So far, I've enjoyed my new RoG laptop to the fullest. It has a great aesthetic, and doesn't skimp on performance. The 1 Year Accidental Damage coverage is amazing as always. The system comes with a pre-installed gadget that lets you switch from "high performance" to "battery saving", essentially throttling the proccesor and GPU to extend off-cable life. The stereoscopic 3D on this model is quite good, though it wasn't my main reason for the purchase. There are a few downsides, but nothing too terrible. Like most gaming laptops, it is very large and heavy, has low battery life (about 2 1/2 hours), and gets hot quickly (ventilation is excellent, however, and I haven't noticed any performance issues related to heat). The keyboard has a nice feel to it, but occasionally will not register a button press (I think this is a result of not pressing hard enough). The partitioned hard drive is a bit odd (I found that using one for storage, one for Steam, and one for all other games...

This laptop is absolutely amazing! I've actually come to love Acer laptops because they are reliable and affordable. I purchased this Acer Aspire 7551-7422 to upgrade from my Acer Aspire AS7736Z-4088. I also wrote a review on that one as well. This particular model is slightly different but similar in specs to the Acer AS7741G-6426 that has the 2.66 GHz Intel Core i5-480M dual-core processor which makes it more expensive. It also has a 640 GB SATA hard drive (5400 RPM)and this Acer model has 500 GB SATA hard drive with a 2.2GHz Quad Core processor (AMD Phenom II X4 N970).

I purchased this particular model at Walmart for $478.00 which I thought was a great deal. I have this exact model. It's black with a mesh like top so you don't have to worry about all those nasty little finger prints! This computer is blazing fast. It even takes less than 30 seconds to boot up. 2. Love this laptop -- runs circles around my old desktop
I use the laptop for everything, including my photography, post processing, and office work. It's quick and I haven't had any problems with it at all. The only reason I don't give it five stars is that the battery life is short. I can only work about 2 hours before I have to recharge it. I'm sure that has to do with the fact that it has a big screen and the display eats power. Still, I think they could have done better. I'm going to have to get an accessory battery charger for taking the laptop on photo shoots. I had hoped that wouldn't be necessary. Otherwise, this thing is screaming fast for my purposes. PRO: AMD's FX Quad Core processor will definitely plow through your basic office tasks without hesitation. After a bit of adjustment, the keyboard works quite well under normal conditions, and the trackpad is better than most I've dealt with.

CON: Graphics is about average for student/home business use, unsuitable for gaming (no L3 cache, only 256 MB max memory, which is shared and set in the BIOS). 5400 RPM HDD is simply inappropriately slow for any use today. Out of the box you will spend hours doing security updates on Windows 7 (typical for anything out of Microsoft the last couple of decades), or you can spend about a half hour installing Ubuntu Linux and not have to deal with that mess, I did both do to the need of a few Linux programs I use regularly. Brilliant screen (it is bigger than my wife's 17 inch Toshiba laptop) and I love the key board. About the only things I don't love about this machine is the power plug and DVD burner are on the right side.......same side as my mouse pad and mouse. But I can get use to that. I had planned on adding to the memory, but so far, I find no need to do that. So I rated this a 5 as I am enjoying it and have no dissatisfaction.

2. Extremely Pleased!
I wanted a windows 7, 17 inch laptop and due to procrastination missed buying an Acer with intel chip. I couldn't find a Windows 7 machine until I came across this deal. Wasn't too turned off by the ADM chip set as my last laptop was an ADM. Ordered the machine and it arrived in three days......quicker than promised. 1. Learning curve
Enjoying everything about my new laptop, from the back-lit keyboard that can be turned off, to how long the charge lasts. It's quick, screen is easy to view. Keyboard has a positive feel but not stiff. Yes, it's heavy but I wanted it for a replacement desktop so won't be hauling it around. Plenty of ports, pleased they are on the sides so no struggle to use them. Fans are quiet and they are at the back. I've not had any problems with heat, any sort of odd behavior.
Windows 8, well, that's taken longer to deal with and honestly wish I'd purchased the same laptop with Windows 7. Who wants to pay an extra $70.00 for Windows Media Player is one of the easier things to gripe about. But that is on me, not Asus!
Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase.

2. Great Laptop! Well worth the money
I love this laptop, it's amazing! I am studying computer animation, and rendering takes no time at all. My games run smoothly (if only I had better internet connection. The battery life is great for such a big laptop. I think the only thing I haven't liked is the weight. It's a little on the heavy side, but it hasn't been a hassle since I bought a laptop backpack.

I'll keep it simple, using solidworks 2012 and 2013 premium side by side with real view graphics on AND working on large assembly..... this laptop doesn't even break a sweat. exceeds my expectations.

2. Powerhouse laptop
I ordered this PC for my consulting business in which I do everything from Software Development to Web Design. I’ve had it for about a week or so in which I typically have open multiple Micrsoft .NET IDE’s, Adobe programs, web browsers, emails, etc. It’s pretty rare for the CPU usage to get above 15%. With a quad core this this thing is an animal and it shows. Really good graphics for this price - the display is crisp and sharp. I use Adobe Fireworks and Dreamweaver for design work and the display is right up there with higher-end video cards. Fit & finish is superb as it is on all EliteBooks I’ve had. The only negative I’d say is this is a heavy laptop. This is a workstation built for heavy lifting so I kind of expected it would be on the heavier side. As of now 5 stars.

1. This Samsung is AMAZING
This is my first ever review but this Samsung series 7 17.3" laptop is simply AMAZING in every way so I felt compelled to write this review. OK, I received it yesterday afternoon via UPS (wish amazon would offer FedEx as an option). My first impression was just how Beautiful and sleek it looked not to mention thin. It seems to be very sturdy and looks well built. Plus only about 1" thick and although its a 17" with the small border around the screen is almost feels like a 15 inch in my opinion. Just under 5lbs on the weight I believe.

I turned it on and the matte screen was very clear and detailed and Bright. I was a little leary about it being a matte screen as I never had one and hoped the screen wouldn't look too dark or unclear. Not an issue! Two things I Love about it is that it is full HD with a 1920x1080 screen rez/size. And secondly it has a lit keypad with an option on how bright you want it to be. - Excellent! Full HD and a lit keyboard are two important options...

2. Samsung Chronos Series 7
So, I just picked this bad boy up from B3st BVY. Couldn't wait for shipping as I'm on a military assignment. Going to jot down a review of the things that I like and a few things that stuck out to me. These will be in thought bubble format:

Painful to upgrade. Rather harrowing experience but there are guides online for the previous gen 17" that work well.

SSD upgrade a must. 1tb very slow.

Ivy Bridge + Keplar have lived up to their names. Very powerful, very energy efficient.

No room for RAM upgrade. Wish it had 4 slots.

Keplar GPU + intel 4000 make a really neat combo.

GPU does all modern games i've seen at med to high ( 1080p ) with some tweaking.

Very light for a 17".

Long battery life for a 17" ( 2 - 3 hours with med to heay use roughly )

Nice keyboard and backlight.

Very attractive case. Well put together.

Minimal flex in Display, considering it's a 17"...

Had great potential... but falls short due to critical/fatal flaws
Purchased this machine expecting Samsung quality, fell short due to FATAL flaws. The biggest deal breaker is the absolutely atrocious wireless N performance and stability. Since this is a laptop/notebook, wireless N is crucial to the machine; I cannot be expected to carry around an external wireless adapter or a very long Ethernet cord. The Wi-Fi would have random latency spikes and packet drops (can be seen if you run continuous ping test) when any continuous streaming activity was initiated (such as video streaming, and gaming). This would happen as soon as you are one wall or more away from the router (ASUS RT-N56U). The other devices in my household on Wireless N do not have this issue and are connected to the same router on the same band. In fact, the HP Envy 17 I purchased to replace the Samsung machine has the same Wireless card (Intel 6235) as the Samsung and it does not have this problem. Wireless G on the Samsung machine seems okay, but I paid for a Wireless N laptop...
